freestyle sewing for paper crafters

This technique is ridiculously simple, although it might take some practice. You can even draw pictures with your sewing machine! Don’t fight with your machine like I did (at first) – this video will show you how to sew freestyle on paper, fabric, etc. Tip: if you’re going to sew on fabric, put it in an embroidery hoop first. That’s it! Have fun! Upload your attempts to flickr.com or drop by the blog and leave us a message! gauchealchemy.wordpress.com

Corinne Bradd demonstrates the technique of marbling, using specialist inks dropped onto the surface of water. This is taken from Jill Alblas's project, featured in the latest issue of Quick & Crafty, where she has brought this craft up to date by creating bright, swirling patterns to make psychedelic canvases, pretty floral designs, and more. You can find the full instructions for this crafty make on p67 of Quick & Crafty, May '07, available now from all good newsagents, priced £3.99.
