Making Memories Slice Hands Free System Demonstration
Introduction to the new Slice hands free system from Making Memories, as demonstrated at the Winter 2010 CHA Super Show to Susanna Boyd of PaperCraftPlanet.com. The new system cuts “hands free” with the addition of a magnetic collar and new 12×12 reversible cutting/embossing plate. New products also include a new fusible web that allows crafters to use the Slice to cut into light weight fabric and create intricate appliques in a fraction of the time of designing by hand. New cartridges feature mirror imaging and “shadow” (think matte) cutting for all designs. For more information on this product, visit www.whyslice.com. Please stop calling us “ladies.” We’re women. Thanks.
It has to be alot better than the Slice I brought 15 months ago that has a mind of it’s own and cuts the shape to pieces. I have $1000.00 worth of design cards and now I can’t use the machine, I am soo… disheartened with Slice.
@minniemate The machine is the same. The new system is a collar and a mat that hold the slice so that it’s “hand’s free”. I don’t work for Making Memories, but I LOVE my Slice and use it a lot. Have you contacted customer service about the trouble you’re having? The one time I did have to call them, they were VERY responsive.
@papercraftplanet Thankyou, I will contact them. I’m in NZ and I will contact the shop where I purchased it from. It would seem from other comments that the some of the early machines tended to be faulty and need to be re-calibrated so that could well be the problem. Love the idea that it can be hands free. I look forward to using mine again.
@minniemate If it’s recalibration, email Making Memories. They sent me a new “basics” card that had a recalibration program in it. It fixed the machine and made it cut faster and smoother. They should do it for free.
@papercraftplanet I contacted the store where I bought my Slice and they recommended using a light lubricant in the two tiny holes near the blade. Viola, problem solved,my Slice and I are best buddies once again and I’m loving re-discovering this wonderful little machine. Thankyou so much for encouraging me. I can’t wait till the magnetic collar and larger board become available in New Zealand.
